Bio
One Way Sky isn’t just a band—it’s a home for those who refuse to be defined by limits. For the ones who’ve stared at the night sky and felt the pull of something bigger. For those who know they belong to the stars One Way Sky isn’t just a band—it’s a home for those who refuse to be defined by limits. For the ones who’ve stared at the night sky and felt the pull of something bigger. For those who know they belong to the stars.
Born on the homelands of the Gila River Indian Community and the Tohono O’odham Nation, One Way Sky channels alternative rock and the resilience of their roots into a sound that’s raw, honest, and undeniable. As REZ kids stepping onto the stage, they finally get to tell their own story—to introduce who they are, where they come from, and have that presence solidified, honored, and heard. For too long others have spoken for them. This time the music speaks for itself—a living testament to their ancestors’ sacrifices and prayers.
Formed in 2019 by Adrian D Thomas, Cody Bruguier, Lomakoyva Manuel, and Damien Carlos, One Way Sky has always been about pushing forward, no matter the odds. Their music carries the essence of the Arizona sky—the vibrant purples, pinks, and yellows of a desert sunset fading into the eternal night. The vastness of the Sonoran desert, the fire of the sun, the stillness of the night—it’s all woven into the rhythm, a manifestation of love, prayers, and an undeniable will to live. The colors of the Tohono O’odham Nation’s flag, purple and yellow, reflect the energy of One Way Sky—a balance of peace and power, the past and the future, the earth and the cosmos.
Drawing from the raw intensity that gave artists like The Beatles, Nirvana, and Jimi Hendrix their legendary status, One Way Sky carves its own lane—bold, unapologetic, and destined to be. Their debut single, Indian Route 15, earned nominations for Best Rock Recording and Best Alt-Rock Recording at the Native American Music Awards. Their debut EP, Soul Searcher, further solidified their place in the alternative rock scene, resonating with listeners seeking meaning, healing, and self-discovery in a chaotic world.
After a brief hiatus in 2024, One Way Sky returned with a sharper focus and a renewed sense of purpose. Now signed to IndieGroove Records, they’re ready to transcend with new music that reflects their journey and take on the world—stronger, bolder, and more unified than ever. They’re not just making music—they’re building a community, a movement that invites everyone to join, grow, and rise together.
One Way Sky’s music isn’t just something you hear—it’s something you feel. A force that moves through the soul, like the wind carrying whispers of those who came before. Something as beautiful as a sunset can’t last forever, but under the same sky, we all share in its beauty. Every note, every lyric, every show is a reflection of who we are—an unstoppable force of ancestral prayers, an echo of every dreamer who’s ever looked up at the sky and known they were meant for more.
“Like the stars, we belong to the sky.”
